Zithromax is an erythromycin-related antibiotic, which is primary use is to fight bacteria in human body. Zithromax is prescribed for treating wide range of bacteria-caused diseases such as skin infections; tract infections (pharyngitis, tonsillitis, sinus infections, pulmonary disease, pneumonia), sexually transmitted diseases (gonorrhea, chlamydia, chancroid) and genital ulcer disease in men. Zithromax is also used in children for treating conditions like middle ear infection, pneumonia, tonsillitis, and strep throat. Although, Zithromax is not effective in case of any virus-caused infection like flu, stomach flu, or common cold.
